Meet Marissa

Marissa’s passion for justice began when she served on a jury in Bexar County and witnessed the impact of a fair courtroom. She went on to work for the Small Business Administration, helping Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims rebuild their lives.

Over the course of her legal career, Marissa has handled more than 5,000 criminal cases and tried over 50 jury trials as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney. She began her work as an Assistant County Attorney in Potter County before returning home to Bexar County, where she spent nearly a decade fighting for victims and families in the Misdemeanor, Felony, and Family Violence Divisions of the District Attorney’s Office.

Marissa’s work in the Family Violence Division focused on some of the most sensitive and challenging cases, including domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault. In 2018, she was assigned to the Magistrate’s Office, where she worked closely with law enforcement agencies to review and file incoming criminal cases—ensuring that justice began at the very first step.

In 2023, Marissa opened her own law practice, transitioning to criminal defense and family law. Her very first client had been wrongfully arrested—a case of mistaken identity that reaffirmed her belief in the importance of fairness and due process for all.

Marissa is known for her integrity, honesty, and unwavering dedication to justice. Whether advocating for victims or defending the rights of the accused, she believes every person who enters a courtroom deserves respect, dignity, and a fair trial.
