Meet Marissa

Education

As a proud product of the Texas public school system, I graduated from Judson High School in 1999. My passion for the law was sparked after serving as a juror in a Bexar County murder trial, where I witnessed firsthand the critical role of the courts in delivering justice.

I began studying criminal justice at St. Philip’s College before transferring to the University of North Texas, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2005. I went on to earn my law degree from South Texas College of Law–Houston, graduating in 2011, and became a licensed attorney later that year.

Experience

My commitment to justice has always been rooted in serving people. Early in my career, I worked for the Small Business Administration, helping victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita recover and rebuild. I later served as a prosecutor in both Potter and Bexar Counties, advocating for victims and families—especially in cases involving domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault.

In 2018, I worked in the Bexar County Magistrate’s Office, reviewing every new arrest in the county and collaborating closely with law enforcement to ensure every case filed met legal and ethical standards.

In 2023, I transitioned into criminal defense and family law to continue serving the community—this time by protecting the rights of the accused. One of my first cases involved a wrongfully arrested local teacher—a powerful reminder of why fair representation and due process matter.

Over the course of my career, I have resolved over 5,000 criminal cases and taken more than 50 to trial. My work has always centered on integrity, justice, and making a meaningful difference—for victims, defendants, and the broader community.

If elected Judge of the 226th District Court, I will continue to uphold these values to ensure every person who enters the courtroom is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
